On a very misty night at Grosvenor Vale the reserves took away the Stones unbeaten home record with an hard earned 2-1 victory.
There were a lot of excellent performances, especially from John Sonuga at the back and Will Hudson in midfield, but both were surpassed by a brilliant display by keeper Aaron Bufton. He made at least three exceptional saves to keep the Stones at bay.
The Woods played good pass and movement football in the first half and deservedly went ahead on 10 minutes when Will Hudson got on the end of a cross from Daryl Campbell- Grimshaw to slot home.
Anton Lewis had a couple of drives at goal from distance and both fizzed the wrong side of the post before the Woods went further ahead on 33 minutes when another superb cross, this time from Hugo Figueiredo, was tapped home by Harry Smart.
On 40 minutes Aaron Bufton made his first great save of the night when he denied the Stones number 11 with a point blank save. From the resultant corner Wealdstone reduced the arrears when the same player out-jumped a static defence to nod home.
In the second half Wealdstone had most of the game and their forwards were very wasteful in front of goal and most of their efforts were blazed high and wide. Those they got on target were brilliantly dealt with by Bufton, twice making point blank saves to deny the equaliser and deservedly earning the man of the match award.
